It’s been so long since I’ve written-we’ve had a busy summer and fall -a move, a trip to SC, your first birthday, moving into our new house and finding out that you are going to be a big brother! You have grown up soo much in such a short time:) You started walking on your own at the end of September and never looked back! You are quite coordinated and mobile! Now you are a pro and often walk backwards when you don’t want mommy or daddy to change your diaper or get you dressed. You don’t really like either of these chores-you’d rather run around naked:) who wouldn’t?? You can get up and down the stairs very easily and are definitely quick-sometimes it’s tough to catch you! We just got back from South Carolina and you seemed to have had a big developmental leap while there. Before we left, daddy taught you to sign “more” using reese’s pieces (he’s not proud of this:) but it definitely accomplished the task and you have been communicating what you’d like more of ever since. You also have picked up lots of words….For a LONG time-your favorite word was “whoa!” You would walk around pointing to everything in the room and say “whoa!” each time. Soo adorable. You even woke up on the plane on the way back from South Carolina, opened your eyes pointed to to the air vent etc above, said “whoa!” and went back to sleep. You can be in the middle of crying and just stop, point and “whoa!” Your other favorite word is definitely “dog”!
You’ve also been saying “hot” and waving your hand like a fan:) you do that for hot and cold things…Also “uh-oh” seems to be a favorite…
Some new words you’ve picked up recently are hello, bye bye (and you’ll wave), toes, socks, ball, eyes, no, milk, water (although it only somewhat resembles the actual pronunciation), more (but it sounds like “me”), book, bath, and baby.
You are still very social and seemed to love all of the attention from nanny, pop and the rest of the family in SC. You were also very social (and active) on the flights. You were always looking for other kids and would point at the babies and say “baby” “hi there”.
You definitely keep us on our toes since you are so curious but typically if you are engaged, you are happy. After a LONG day of traveling and keeping you entertained on flights you finally got focused on putting the headphone cord into the small jack on the armrest. We were amazed at the level of concentration, focus and determination you had. You achieved your goal several times and seemed so proud of yourself. This challenge kept you entertained for 40 minutes (who knew?) I said “this boy is going to be surgeon:)” Just FYI-I’ll be happy with whatever you do as long as you love it:)
You are beginning to show a bit of your independence….when you get frustrated you will sometimes bang your head on the floor or if you are being held you will try to head butt whoever is holding you. You also are starting to say no and ask for what you want “me, me” (more, more)! It is fun to see you start communicating and sometimes hard to know how best to support you when you are coping with tough feelings:)
One of my favorite things that you’ve been saying a lot is “mommymommymommymommy”. I LOVE it! melts my heart.
Daddy and I just keep saying that we can’t believe how much we love you and our love for you keeps growing everyday. You are soo special and have such a personality! We love getting to know you and are so excited for what is to come!
You are going to be a great big brother!!
